From nothing to 5 km in 8 weeks!
The Burnham Joggers Beginners course is offered twice a year, in the Spring and the Autumn.
The objective is to help local people to increase their fitness by joining a jogging course that is structured in a way that will enable them to run non-stop for 5 km by the end of the course and in the process meet a new circle of friends. The course is available to non members.
At the end of the eight week course we look forward to participants using their improved fitness to maintain a more active live pursuing the activities of their choice.
We of course hope beginners will continue to enjoy jogging and subsequently join Burnham Joggers. Quite a number of ‘established’ Club members joined via the beginners group and now play important roles in the Club. We offer a free period of membership to encourage this.
We have a dedicated band of qualified coaches and helpers that often sacrifice their own training to organise these courses. The Club pays for members to obtain the basic qualifications. As well as the coaches, it is always helpful to have assistance from a few members who will accompany the participants.
Should you join our course?
If a newcomer is already able to jog about 4 miles in 45 minutes or less, they should not join the class but come along to our normal club nights. However, there is no hard and fast rule.

Briefing and sign up meeting Tuesday 20th March 2018 at 7.30pm to be held at Huntswood Golf Club,(the new home of Burnham Joggers) Taplow Common Road, Burnham SL1 8LS
The course will officially start on Tuesday 27th March 2018 7.30pm prompt.
There will be a maximum of 24 places on this course. Participants should have a reasonable level of general fitness and must be committed to carry out jog sessions on 2 further days each week in addition to the coaching evenings. At the end of the course there will be an opportunity to take part in a 5 km run. The aim is to enable attendees to be able to run 5 km without stopping by the end of the course through a structured walk and jog plan. A certificate will be awarded on completion of the course.
