Key Information
The event location is National Trust Cliveden on Cliveden Road, Taplow, SL6 0JA, Buckinghamshire. The race start time is 7.15pm.
Parking
Access is via the main gate to Cliveden (opposite The Feathers Pub). Parking this year will be in the Paddocks area, which is immediately on the left as you enter the Main Gates. Please follow our Marshals’ instructions as they will direct you to this from the main gate. The main Gate will not open before 5.45 pm as the National Trust need to clear their daytime visitors off site and from the car parks first. Please note The Feathers Pub has ANPR cameras installed, so do not park in there whilst waiting for access to Cliveden.
Please try to arrive from 5.45 pm until 6.15 pm if your surname starts with A to M or from 6.15pm if your surname starts with N to Z. This will allow our Gate Marshals time to get you off the main road and into the parking area and then direct you up to the registration area. The walk to the start / registration area is approximately 10 minutes, so please allow enough time.
Please car share where possible.
Warm-Up
This year we have changed our official warm up area. The area is marked in Purple on the map and will be marshalled on the day. It will also be signposted. If in doubt ask one of our team and they will direct you. It is as you face the Hotel on the grass to the left alongside teh service road where the race starts and you may run up and down this area but not on the main drive at all. There will be marshals in the area and they will clear it at 6.55pm.
Race Numbers
Race numbers/timing chips to be picked up on race day at the start/finish line. Your race number must be attached to the front of your running top. Runners must run with the number and chip allocated to them. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, especially in the event of an accident. On the reverse of your race number are details for you to complete for any potential problems during your race. We must emphasise this fact as it is now a requirement of England Athletics through who we obtain our race licence. You are strongly advised to complete this when you pick up your number & chip.
Facilities
Please come ready to run as we do not have changing facilities available and there is only a limited bag drop area (please leave your bag in your car if possible).
We will have toilets at the start/finish.
Water will be available at the start/finish and at the top of the steps, but we would encourage all runners to “go green”, and bring their own bottle with them
Grounds Access and Hotel
There is no entry or access to the Hotel Grounds at all. This includes the Square in front of the Hotel and also the Terrace at the rear of the Hotel. We politely ask that there is no access for spectators at all in these locations. You may observe from around the top of the steps and at the start/finish line only. No access to the steps at all and no access to the remainder of the grounds will be allowed. This is to comply with our licence from the EA and also from The National Trust.
The Race
We wall call athletes to the start at 7.05 pm and make announcements and final race instructions at 7.10pm.
The Race starts at 7.15 pm, so please make sure you turn up in good time! The start is on the Service Road, adjacent to the main drive. This is a change from previous years.
The route is the same as last year and continues to avoid the main drive in front of the Hotel but still takes you up the steps TWICE!
The course will be marked with yellow Pin Flags and Red and White tape.
Please obey the marshals’ instructions – there will many in attendance. They are there for your convenience and safety – as with any trail run the course has many potential risks. Should an accident occur, please ensure that the marshals are informed immediately. We have Radio Communications in each race sector. The Lead Sector Marshal will communicate any issues reported to Race HQ.
NO SPIKES ALLOWED! This is at the request of the National Trust.
We are having to impose a cut off time of 40 minutes for the first lap as it will be dark by approx. 8.30pm. Therefore if you haven’t completed the first lap in that time we will respectfully ask you to not start the second lap.
Once you have crossed the finish line, keep moving through the finish area to pick up your race memento.
First Aid
First aiders and an ambulance will attend the start/finish area and also at the Woodlands car park, then one first aider along the riverbank and one at the top of the steps. If you feel unwell, contact a marshal who will arrange help.
Trophies
Results/Trophy announcement will take place near the start/finish line at approximately 8.30pm
