RUN THE SCENIC BURNHAM BEECHES HALF & 10K

IN THE COOL SHADE OF ANCIENT WOODLAND

RUN IN THE SCENIC BURNHAM BEECHES

Burnham Beeches Half Marathon and 10K

9th August 2026

Entries for the 2026 race will open later this week.

The Burnham Beeches Half Marathon and 10K offers a choice of two distances, both on a mix of closed roads and hard-surfaced paths through the cool shade of the Burnham Beeches ancient woodland in South Bucks. It’s the perfect setting for a summer half marathon or 10K.

2026 will be the 45th running of this iconic event. By popular demand the course will again be run in reverse (clockwise direction).

The Half Marathon starts at 9:15 am and the 10k at 9:30 am.

There will be no finisher shirt again this year which enables us to keep costs down and minimises the environmental impact of the event. Finishers will be presented with a unique commemorative medal (a new design this year) which is part of an interlinking set including our Beaconsfield 5 and Cliveden Classic races.

We will be minimising the use of plastics and urge runners to please bring your own water bottles, which can be filled from taps in the race village before and after the event. There will be three water stations on the course with water available from cups and jugs for refilling your bottles.

Runners must be at least 18 years old on the day of the race to enter. The races are unsuitable for wheelchairs and no runners may be accompanied by a cyclist, pushchair or dog. The usual EA race rules apply and runners are only permitted to wear approved (bone conducting) headphones while running.

There will be a cut-off time of 3 hours for the Half Marathon after which time any runner still on the course will be advised that they continue on their own at their own risk.

Unfortunately we will not be able to provide access to the school swimming pool this year.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three places overall – and the top place in each of the veteran categories (V40/V50/V60/V70) – for both men and women in both the 10k and Half Marathon.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest information.

We are hopeful that the event will be able to go ahead without disruption, but if we need to cancel, the entry fee is non-refundable.

When registering please consider donating to Arthritis Action, a locally active charity which gives practical support to improve the quality of life of runners and others who are affected by arthritis.

We look forward to welcoming you on 9th August.

ABOUT THE HALF MARATHON

The first Burnham Beeches Half Marathon was held on the 9th September 1980 as an off-road affair on the Portman Estate, over a course that included various obstacles including stiles! The winner was Graham Patton of Massey Ferguson in a time of 1:12:53. First female runner was Jill Standerwick of Porton Camp AC in 1:32:22. 346 runners competed. It is believed that the course may have been a bit short!

The following year the Race HQ moved to Caldicott School, with a course through and around Burnham Beeches. Although there have been at least two course changes over the years, the modern event follows the same, successful, formula but now has a measurement certificate!
