Summer Solstice Run
The Summer Solstice Run (formerly the Lord Mayors Mile) is traditionally held on the Friday evening closest to the longest day (21st June). The race starts at 7pm in Burnham Park.
This is a Club Championship event and also a social / family occasion, so parents / partners / children are all welcome to join in on the run. We have a BBQ afterwards at the Bowls Club – the club supplies rolls and salad. You just need to bring the meat and veggie options, which will be cooked for you by a willing volunteer.

History
Up to 2019 the route started a short walk from the shelter on Lord Mayors Drive in Burnham Beeches, next to the Druid’s Oak. From there we ran to the triangle by the main car park / cafe, round the triangle clockwise and then back down Lord Mayors Drive to the finish.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions we were unable to hold the usual Lord Mayor’s Mile race in 2020 or 2021.
In 2020 we held ‘Not quite the Lord Mayors Mile’. 36 adults (and 13 under-18s) entered this team competition, with 4 groups of 9 members competing to win £150 for their chosen charity. Each team consisted of 1 walker, a maximum of 3 people with sub 22 mins 5k, a minimum of 2 ladies per team and 1 veteran (i.e. over 55s). Whilst observing the rules of social distancing, each member was required to run their mile sometime between 00:01 on 19th June and noon on 21st June 2020. The winner was Team “Mrs Brown’s Boys and Girls” who donated £150 to The Pepper Foundation.
In 2021 we held “Not the Lord Mayors Mile” as a 1km loop of Burnham Park, followed by a BBQ at the Bowls Club.
For 2022 the race was again a 1km loop of Burnham Park and was renamed the Summer Solstice Run.
