Thames Valley Cross Country League

Tempted to join us in these challenging but social events all welcome:
Cost only £2 Wear Club vests. Meet at 10.30 for a 11am start

From the M4: Leave the motorway at J12 and take the A4 west towards Newbury. After about 3-4 miles turn left at roundabout onto the A340 towards Aldermaston/Tadley/Basingstoke. Go straight on through Aldermaston village, up the hill passing AWE on the left, cross over 2 roundabouts at AWE gates and at the next roundabout take the last exit onto the B3051 towards Newbury and Kingsclere. Pass the Lakeside Garden Centre and Larkwhistle Farm on the right and take the next left towards Baughurst. Race HQ and Car Park are about 0.5 miles on the left and will be clearly signposted on race day.

From the M3: Leave the motorway at J6 and then follow the A339 ring road and then the A340 towards Aldermaston and Tadley (following the Hospital A & E signs from the motorway also works). On entering Tadley go straight on at roundabout (2nd exit, swimming pool on LHS) and continue up the hill passing Fox & Hounds PH on left and Sainsbury’s/Library on right. Keep left on the one-way system towards Newbury/Kingsclere, go straight on at the AWE West Gate roundabout and at the next roundabout go straight on to the B3051. Then proceed as above.

Parking

This is adjacent to Race HQ at the main School Hall and will be clearly signposted.

Course

This is slightly different to previous years as we have lost the ditches and open fields towards the end of the course. The course is now almost all footpaths/woodland/bridleways and remains at about 5.2 miles; it is not considered suitable for spikes. Please remember the 10-15 minute walk/jog to the start and allow time to get there.

Pre/Post Race

Changing, shower and toilet facilities are available at Race HQ. We will be using the disk system for scoring – would club reps please ensure that we get them all back. As usual, refreshments will be served back at Race HQ after the event. Please bring a change of shoes to avoid bringing mud into the hall.
